The Unbearable Heaviness of Remembering

The Unbearable Heaviness of Remembering by L. Jagi Lamplighter

Rachel Griffin book 5.  Spoilers ahead for the earlier books.

Opens with the campus under lockdown (amazing coincidence) because of issues with wild fey sneaking onto campus.  It opens with Rachel's being alerted that Sigfried needs help against one.  And there are grave questions whether the great masquerade ball will go on, or be canceled, a topic of much concern to the girls in her dorm.

Meanwhile, Rachel lives with the secret knowledge that her oldest sister Amber was taken from her family, but she has a promise that Amber will return to them.

It involves Vlad's doing her a favor and her parents' questioning him, dealing with the fey as best they can secretly (since the teachers will object), doing their hair, Sigfried's being amazingly happy after a discovery to Rachel's great surprise, the masquerade, her sister Laurel's being an expert on a subject, advice for a newly betrothed princess about how to win her fiance over, and more.
