Minimum Wage Magic
Minimum Wage Magic by Rachel Aaron
DFZ book 1.
I don't know how it reads without having read the Heartstriker series first, but I think it helps to have done so.
Our heroine, Opal, is a Cleaner. She bids on apartments where the rent is overdue and cleans them out, selling what she finds. She's had a bad few months, and she needs money. Finding an apartment with a dead body, nothing much of value, and something very magical sends her off on a desperate attempt.
It involves how non-magical people use cyberware to compete, a cathedral that wanders (more than most things in DFW), family relations, some treasures, an AI, a man who's been a lot poor than her, and more.
