In Central Asia during the 19th century. She's twenty (old, they observe) and he's twelve.
It features hunting for rabbits, delivering something to a distant relative who's nomadic, pomegranates, a small boy who neglects his chores, hunting rabbits and more. (There's a European asking anthropological questions but he's a bit character.)
