The final incidents in the life of Akira as an aspiring undine (gondolier) on Aqua (terraformed Mars), in Neo-Venezia. Spoilers are minor for earlier works, though many plots come to a conclusion here.
Discussions of the past of the three mentors, changes, Alice is graduated from school and immediately faces a test, later, so do her friends -- Akira last of all because Alice had plans for that. Discussion of changes. A postscript to it all.
It strikes me as rather Japanese that a major character marries without our ever seeing the bridegroom or learning his name.
