Our heroine is at a party. From her point of view, a wonderful chance to observe the partygoers in their gowns and glean ideas for her embroidery. Then she abruptly get hit by a flying ring, and a man declares she is his fiancee.
He confesses the next morning that he had been pestered by aspiring brides and declared he would choose his bride by throwing the wedding ring. She deduces, correctly, that he had been drunk, but he says it would reflect badly on her if he just broke it -- also, it spares him a lot of pestering. She thinks that it will give her more embroidery time and agrees.
A mysterious mage pays her a visit in her room at night, and approves. The tale winds on, with his duties as a royal knight and his ice powers as a magical knight, learning about the royal family, having tea, and more. There is potential in this story.
