Book 2. So spoilers ahead for the first book, Son of the Black Sword.
As in, it follows three threads. The main one is Ashok and his companions searching for Thera. The second is Thera, in the title house, where wizards refuse to believe her Voice is anything but wizard skill. And the third, small one is following Rada as she stays in hiding places from the Inquisition. With occasional scenes of the Inquisitors in their plots
It involves the lack of honor among assassins, questioning a criminal, the ability, legendary even among wizards, to restore a lost limb, a criminal looking for contacts in an underworld where power has shifted, killing a man who was as dear to you as a brother, the difficulty of escaping through the goat pen, a possibly answered prayer, and more.
