Weekly Reading: In the Vanishers' Palace and Legends & Lattes
Weekly Reading I did. I pulled these out of a large post on my personal blog so if you follow me, you can skip this.
In the Vanishers' Palace by Aliette de Bodard - A solid if somewhat rough sapphic science fantasy with Vietnamese inspired worldbuilding. A sacrifice ends up teaching the water dragon's children. An interesting story about family ensues.
I love Bodard's writing style so I enjoyed my time with the book. However I do feel the characters could have been fleshed out a teensy bit more.
Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree - A fantastic sapphic cozy story. As per the blurb: high fantasy, low stakes. Its a coming of age of adult characters finding their place in a high fantasy world.
I love how most of the cast are non-human characters. Honestly I feel like this is such a perfectly written story.
