The boy who ate stars: Kochka (Translated by Sarah Adams)
A delightful book about a young girl getting to know and trying to understand an autistic boy. Really sweet - Recommend!
And this is true: Emily Mackie
A WEIRD book about a boy coming to terms with some catastrophic changes in his life. Brilliantly written, big on the mind fuck, but totally worth reading.
A rare interest in corpses: Ann Granger
A sweet wee murder mystery set in Victorian London, with a female heroine. Cute.

The Auckland library system is pretty good - so I am certainly thankful about it.
You read White Boots? I have a bunch of Children's classics that I am getting rid of at the moment because I might be moving at the end of the year - if you mail me your address, I could send you them - white boots, ballet shoes, little princess and some other oddities if you would like them for your students.

Awww, thank you for offering, but I'm afraid those'd be vetoed by their teachers and/or would be available in the school library already. :( I've had most luck with contemporary realistic YA. Their topics match the Dutch books 'my kids' do have easy access to and already enjoy reading.
I read White Boots a few days ago, actually! It was lovely!
