The progress of Peanuts.
Lucy opens the volume stealing Linus's blanket to break him of it, and subjects it to some other abuse over the two years. Snoopy is a stalwart sea captain, and associates with some birds, unindividuated. Baseball goes badly -- more than once, everyone quits. Frieda appears, with her naturally curly hair and insistence that Snoopy should hunt rabbits -- and she gets a cat. Linus gets glasses and preaches the Great Pumpkin. Sally panics about kindergarten. The little red-haired girl gets a single mention.
Peanuts plugging along. This is the period in which Sally was born, with much dramatics from Charlie Brown, Lucy taking the occasion to wish Linus had never been born, and other complications. The baseball team. Snoppy branches out, once as Dracula, and once as "whirlydog." Miss Othmar appears to Linus's delight -- twice (with no explanation how she regained favor). Also, Linus gets a library card, Charlie Brown flies kites (or fails to), and Snoopy's home is threatened with demolition
Peanuts in just about full form.
Snoopy is merely pretending to be animals -- such as snakes -- and dancing about in mirth, still. But Lucy is authoritatively telling Linus a lot of nonsense, ineptly attempting to flirt with Schroeder, and deriding Charlie Brown and then changing the subject when he disproves her claims. A long sequence when Charlie Brown is a Davy Crockett fan much as Schroeder is a Beethoven one. And more.
Peanuts as we all know it, nearly perfectly in form. Snoopy's imagination is only turning him into animals of other kinds -- like vultures -- but Linus with his security blanket, the baseball team getting going (and somehow managing to get within one catch of the championship in spite of never doing anything right on panel), Pig-Pen, the kite albeit without the kite-eating tree, and more
A collection of pieces on various colors in human history. Most on the pigments -- the chemistry of it has vast history. Of which Prussian blue being discovered because a man making a batch of red lake was given adulterated potash is merely the weirdest. Brushes on symbolism, gems, flowers, and other things. Lots of interesting bits, and only a couple bobbles I picked out.
